Volunteer
Volunteering has been an important part of my journey.
These experiences taught me empathy, responsibility, and
how creativity can be used to connect with others.

As part of Dentists for Humanity, which serves underserved communities in the Dominican Republic, Madagascar, Cambodia, Fiji, Paraguay, and beyond, I had the opportunity to assist both chairside as a dental assistant and creatively as an artist. In 2024–2025, I designed dental education posters for non-English speaking children in the Dominican Republic to help make oral health information more accessible. These small contributions supported the organization’s mission of combining personalized dental and medical care with education and empowerment, and my ongoing volunteer efforts were recognized with the U.S. President’s Volunteer Service Award.
I am also deeply involved in community service through the Loaves and Fishes Meal program, a food service and relief project led by the Korean Church of Cambridge. For the past 35 years, this program has partnered with nonprofit organizations such as the Greater Boston Food Bank, as well as local store donations and the church’s charitable budget, to serve 80 to 160 people every Saturday afternoon. It is more than a meal—it is a place where people can enjoy warm food with dignity. I began attending this program with my parents in Kindergarten, helping with food preparation, cooking, serving, and creating winter care packages, while also building friendships with other volunteers. These experiences have taught me to appreciate what I have and inspired me to give back.
We are committed to creating meaningful impact by offering youth opportunities to explore visual arts, music, and photography. Through these efforts, we strive to spark creativity, foster community, drive social change, and inspire transformation through service. In this spirit, I participate in annual art exhibitions, where I sell my artwork and donate the proceeds to Boston Children’s Hospital and Cradles to Crayons.
I played cello in a chamber music group that performed for elders in nursing homes, sharing the joy and comfort of music to lift their spirits. Through these performances, I sought to bring warmth, connection, and a sense of community, using the universal language of music to brighten their days.
